After their heroics in the South Munster league final last weekend, could the U14 boys complete a historic double v Old Christian’s at the UCC Farm today?

The answer was an emphatic yes! Though a good Christian’s side gave them a tough test in this South Munster Dev Cup Final.

On a glorious day for rugby, the boys went a try down but were immediately back in it when No 8 Fionn McSherry intercepted on the half way and powered all the way to the line.

The boys showed their fantastic running rugby from last weekend was no fluke and soon scored again. Centre Liam Treacy scoring after a nice move, and converting his own try.

Captain Ryan Harrington was next over after more good work going through the phases. And hooker Cian Nagle barged over for a good forwards try. Christians rallied just before half time and made it 26-12 at the break.

Kinsale were really up against it when Christians scored again after half time, putting one score in it, but flanker George McCarthy showed great finishing skills as the boys upped the ante. Next Liam Treacy finished not one but two great moves out wide and put some distance between the teams finally.

Christian’s, always a great battling side, scored again but another Fionn McSherry try late on sealed it. McSherry finishing well after another great piece of phase play.

And that was it. Final score 48-26. 👏👏

The Kinsale boys had won their two finals week on week. Scoring 70 points and 12 tries along the way. This was a real team effort with the whole squad contributing and having their moment. Truly a great side and a well deserved win. 🏆🏆

Thank you to Christian’s for a great game. 👏👏
