It might be a bit late in his career, but former Kinsale star Philip Stokes has finally got the call up by the IRFU! 🤩🤩
Philip has been honoured by the Irish Rugby Association for his commitment to the development of the game in Ireland as part of their 150 year celebrations. And it is a well deserved honour.
Philip is a founder member of our club, and has been instrumental in its development. He played a large role in both the creation of the club and of the Kinsale Sevens which takes place this weekend, and in the development of our clubhouse in the mid-1990s.
Starting out as a club player, he took to administrative life quickly, serving as fixtures secretary, club President, Sevens Director, Munster Junior (Clubs) Committee member and much more - helping with matches, events, fundraising, behind the bar, and so much more. He now is still very active in the clubs Sevens committee and is a regular attendee at firsts and seconds games, also while serving as a trustee of the club. We are very lucky to have him.👏👏
The club is delighted that Philip is getting such prestigious recognition. Recently Philip attended a ceremony at The Aviva stadium in Dublin where he picked up his Service to the Game medal from IRFU president Declan Madden.
Clubs like Kinsale are built and run on volunteerism. Philip is the very embodiment of the commitment and dedication that we are grateful to have. It enables us to field hundreds of players across pitches every week during the rugby calendar. Thank you to Philip and all our volunteers! ⭐️⭐️
