Kinsale : 59 Vs Crosshaven Dolphin : 0
Munster Club U18 Conference 4 ...  Round 4 @ Snugmore on Saturday 3 November 2018

Earlier today Kinsale u18.5s hosted a Crosshaven/Dolphin side in their 4th game of the Munster Club U18 Conference 4 league. Kinsale went into the game top of the table while the visitors were looking to get their first points of the season. It wasn’t the best mornings for rugby with rain and wind but as the rain stopped ahead of Kick Off to allow both sides go to battle on a wet and greasy pitch with gusty winds swirling around the pitch.
Kinsale were able to pick from almost their full squad with Evan Wrenne the only casualty on the side-lines. Crosshaven/Dolphin were missing a number of players on the day due to injuries and other commitments.

Crosshaven/Dolphin kicked off this game with the intention to make a quick start to the game. From the off they tried to put the home team under pressure but the Kinsale tackling, rucking and passing were strong. Some nice tactical moves in the first half saw Kinsale score 3 tries, 1 penalty and 2 conversions to make it 22-0 at half time with no reply. Crosshaven/Dolphin on occasion had Kinsale on the back foot but never really threatening the home teams’ line. They had one attempt at a penalty which was kicked wide in that first half.

Crosshaven/Dolphin regrouped again and tried to put the pressure on the home team early in second half but Kinsale were the stronger team again as they began to use the bench. Kinsale built on their lead with a try minutes into the second half. Crosshaven/Dolphin battled on and had Kinsale under pressure a number of times in the second half but some quick counter attacks from Kinsale saw more points clock up on the scoreboard. Kinsale scored another couple through their fine play and also through some good rucking and mauling. The final score on the day was 59-0 to the home team to see them keep their 100% record after 4 games.

Denis “Puppet” Collins stated “It was a great team effort with some good movement and build up play to some of the tries.”

Tries : Cormac Hartnett (3), Faelan Steward (2), Louis Murphy(2), Dan Graham, Jordan Wright, Denis O’Mahony

Penalty – Calum Fennel

Conversions – Jordan Wright & Calum Fennel
