As dusk drew near on a cold damp Saturday evening at Snugmore home to Kinsale rugby football, two teams graced the hallowed turf to fulfill a seconds fixture in the Munster Junior two league (Section 2).
Both teams fielding experimental sides in a quest to blood new talent and to reintroduce older members back into the fold, Kinsale had called on the experience of Shane O’Regan, Paul McCarthy, Joe Lyons and Jeremy Coughlan along with fresher younger talent in the guise of Aaron Kingston and Cody O’Neill. The game was entertaining full of incident and full of tries, both teams willing to throw the ball east to west on the paddock and to be honest very little kicks north to south hence it was unusual to see a seconds fixture that had continuity and good offloading. The stronger pack during the game was Kinsale which aided their ability to attack off this set piece, no.8 Joe Lyons creating all kinds of havoc carrying the ball not into contact but offloading to the elusive no.9 Ronan Power who showed us his stepping skills during the opening half and onto the second half.
Playing 10 was Timmy Broadrick who made his long await comeback from injury and showed his array of passing allowing centers to crave up valuable space. Tries came from Ronan Power, Fergal O’Brien, Rob Armstrong, Joe Lyons, Aidan McCarthy and converts from Timmy Broadrick giving the Seasiders a comprehensive win, the score line did reflect the input from the home side 50pts to 15pts. Well done guys.
